Save the RV1 Bus

We are calling on the Mayor of London to take urgent action and reverse his decision to cut the RV1 bus service by half.

The service has been cut from six buses an hour to just three as of Saturday, February 10.

The RV1 is a zero-emissions bus route as it uses a fleet of hydrogen-powered buses which connect Covent Garden, the London Eye, South Bank, Tate Modern, the Globe, Borough Market, Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

It was introduced in 2002 and has had temporary diversions in place since 2016.

The RV1 runs from Tower Hill to Covent Garden through Borough, Bankside and Waterloo and provides a well loved community service connecting many communities in South, Central, and East London. The RV1 is an important tourist route between Covent Garden, London Eye, Southbank Centre, Tate Modern, Globe Theatre, Tower Bridge and Tower of London.

We are concerned by the lack of consultation held by TfL to reduce this service. We believe it is important to promote the use of public transport to improve air quality and make London more sustainable and green.

We call upon the Mayor of London and TfL to request that the reduction in this service is paused or stopped to allow a full and proper consultation on these proposals with both residents and passengers alike.
