Come along and learn canvassing from some of the best in the borough. Kat Grant and Mike Hillier will be leading the training this Saturday.
Canvassing sounds a bit daunting at first... what do you mean, we have to knock on a complete stranger’s door at 11.30am on a weekend?! But we promise that once you’ve rang your first bell and had your first chat with a local resident - you will love it!
London can be lonely place for many of our older residents living alone, and canvassing is a great way to bring a little company their way and ask them about their concerns. It’s also a good opportunity to walk the pavements, and the estates, and pick up many issues right there on the ground: fly tipping, disrepair, leaks, etc etc.
Best of all? It’s social! Canvassing in small teams is a great way to make new friends and learn from others. (Here for example are Kat and Heather doing just that, last weekend!)
This Saturday Mike and Kat from the Oval team (who have only really been doing this since the General Election campaign earlier this year!) are facilitating a special canvas training session for newbie campaigners: we will give you some advice and guidance, and match you up with a more experienced canvasser for some hands-on practice!
