Kate Hoey’s views on Europe are at odds with the 78.6% of Lambeth which voted to Remain in the EU.
She
- Campaigned with Nigel Farage, the hard right leader of UKIP, for a Leave vote in the EU referendum
- Received a major donation of £5,000 from Arron Banks, funder of UKIP and Leave.EU
- Was censured by her constituency Labour party for campaigning alongside Farage and failing to condemn his Breaking Point poster
- Told the country that Brexit would mean an extra £350million for the NHS each week
- Then voted against giving the NHS the extra cash
- Voted against protecting the rights of EU citizens living in our area, and across the UK, increasing uncertainty and fear
- Voted against an amendment to stop the government turning the UK into a tax haven after Brexit
- Voted to give the Tories a blank cheque on the Brexit deal
- Publicly celebrated in the House of Commons when Article 50 was triggered despite 78 per cent of her constituents voting Remain
- Her own Constituency Labour Party issued a statement saying they believed she was insufficiently opposing Conservative government policy on child refugees and the residency rights of people from the EU
- UKIP leader Paul Nuttall endorses her, with the party standing aside in Vauxhall for this general election - apparently after receiving “assurances" from Ms Hoey's team
