Chris Nicholson

Your Lib Dem candidate for Clapham Common & Abberville

Chris Nicholson has lived with Trisha in the heart of Clapham Common and Abbeville ward for almost 20 years. He narrowly failed to become MP for Streatham in the 2010 General Election. Chris is a former Councillor and Leader of the Council of another London Borough. He brings substantial experience as a former senior partner at accounting and consulting giant KPMG in advising private and public sector on performance improvement. He was Special Adviser to Ed Davey when he was Secretary of State for Energy and Climate Change. He has chaired the Board of a large government agency and currently chairs the board of a housing association which provides social housing and supported housing for the homeless, victims of domestic violence and those with mental health and drug and alcohol issues. He has a particular interest in children’s social care having adopted a sibling group of 4 children and is a trustee of charity the Family Rights Group.

Chris is a keen runner, a member of a Baptist Church in Clapham Park and a volunteer adviser at a local debt advice charity. Chris says 'I have decided to stand to represent Clapham Common and Abbeville as I feel Labour are letting down our area so badly as a result of their mismanagement of the Council's finances and their appalling record on local housing. I know from my financial and housing expertise and experience of running a London borough that things can be done so much better'
