Claire Mathys
Your Lib Dem candidate for Streatham Common & Vale
Claire has called Streatham home for nearly 20 years and loves the area’s energy and strong sense of community. Over the years, she has actively contributed to local life, and in 2008 co-founded the charity Love Streatham, helping to bring people together through community action days and family fun days on Streatham Common.
She lives locally with her husband in a leasehold flat where she has served on the residents’ association, giving her first-hand experience of representing neighbours and working constructively to resolve shared challenges. Claire believes everyone deserves good-quality, well-maintained, and affordable housing, as well as a meaningful voice in how their homes and communities are run. Professionally, she has worked in housing policy for several years.
Claire knows too many residents feel ignored. She wants a council that listens and acts. That’s why she’s standing for election — to make sure local voices are respected and to fight for safer streets and a cleaner environment.
Claire values fairness and respect, and believes these principles should be at the heart of every local decision. With enthusiasm and a genuine love for Streatham, she is ready to stand up for the community and help shape a future residents can be proud of.
