David Whitaker
Your Lib Dem candidate for Stockwell East
David works as a senior economist for a well-known economics and research consultancy based in Westminster, and has a keen interest and track record in policymaking. He recently worked for a digital challenger bank, and has previous experience as a civil servant in HM Treasury, the Office for Budget Responsibility and HMRC.
David is standing as a councillor to protect public spaces, boost housing in Lambeth, and to ensure local residents are listened to and heard. He believes that Lambeth Council needs to dramatically improve its poor record on building social housing, reducing housing waiting lists and handling complaints.
David is also a keen local volunteer. He is currently a co-opted school governor at a primary school in Kennington, and a trustee for the Stockwell Partnership, a local charity based in the heart of Stockwell. He has also previously served as a charity Treasurer and trustee for a local community orchestra.
David has lived in Stockwell since 2018 and in Lambeth for nearly a decade. Outside of work and politics, David enjoys playing music. He has played tenor saxophone with the Lambeth-based South London Jazz Orchestra for over 15 years, including tours to the world-famous Edinburgh Fringe Festival.
